Welcome back to school after our half term break. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us. During the coming week the children will be learning about the festival of Diwali. Diwali is the Hindu festival of light and is based on the story of Prince Rama and Princess Sita, who are banished to a forest where they defeat Ravana ( the ten headed demon!). As Rama and Sita made their way back to the city, people lined the roads with lights to help them find their way. Diwali means 'Line of Lights'.
We will also be looking at how Diwali is celebrated by Hindus today. The children will be making diwali lamps (also known as diya lamps), diwali cards, rang0li patterns and we end the topic with a Diwali party. We will also be looking at traditional Indian dress.
Some dates to be aware of:
- 11th November Bigfoot theatre group are coming in to class to do some activities based on 'Room on the Broom'.
- 12th November New Theatre trip to see 'Room On A Broom'.
Can I also remind parents that snack money is due for this half term (£2.50). Can PE kits be retuned to school asap.
Thank you
